Our coffees are carefully selected then small-batch roasted by the Evelyn Bay Coffee Company of Brooklyn, Michigan. Beans are roasted after the order has been placed to guarantee the freshest cup of coffee possible. Our coffee roasting profiles are expertly balanced to harmonize with the specific origin character of each bean. We do not prefer heavily roasted beans as their character is often acrid and bitter, with the entirety of the cup focused on roast, the origin lost.

Jessica Oloroso has been making gourmet gelato and sorbet with unusual combinations of flavors for the past three years, selling it through restaurants such as Socca and Uncommon Ground.
Jessica opened her own store, Black Dog Gelato, at 859 N. Damen Ave. Flavors include Mexican hot chocolate, cocoa nib with toasted pecans, goat cheese cashew caramel and sesame fig chocolate chip. Ms. Oloroso (the former pastry chef at Scylla) will also concoct seasonal flavors with fruit grown in the Midwest.
